Things happen in the world that you just can't imagine if you've not actually physically been there. Darfur, Gujurat, Iraq, Zimbabwe, Serbia... the list goes on and on hopelessly, you want to scream at the aggressors to stop and to get over themselves because can't you see that there's innocent people and children and babies not yet born suffering immeasurably
and don't you care...

One of the things that caught my eye about this gift is that survivors support each other as well as having professional help. That strikes me as valuable - there are some people for whom being able to say "You know what I mean?" or for whom knowing someone else has experienced similar things to them must be a rare thing.
